Jibidee and TechCrunch50
In December 2007, HD Interactive partnered with Allen Clary to build Jibidee.com. We had worked with Allen a few years back on a Flash project and made a good impression. He wanted to build a personal organization website with a rich interface. His friend, Greg Wilson, a Senior Technical Evangelist for Adobe, recommended that we use Flex for the development platform. With our experience in Flash development and online applications, it turned out to be a great recommendation.
A selected group of private beta testers used the product for the next several months. In September, Jibidee.com launched publicly from the Demo Pit at the TechCrunch50 Conference in San Francisco, California. Jibidee was selected as a semi-finalist for TechCrunch50 from over 1,000 applicants. Jibidee received great feedback from attendees of the conference, and some of those suggestions are being incorporated into new releases of the product.
Allen and I had a great time at TechCrunch and got to meet many great developers, entrepreneurs and investors. I knew ahead of time that Ashton Kutcher was going to be there to demo his new BlahGirls.com site and Mark Cuban was going to be there to be interviewed on stage about his experience with tech start-ups. I told my family and friends that it would be cool if I got to meet those two guys while I was out there. Well, I met both of them and even got to talk to Mark Cuban about Jibidee for a good 5 minutes. He had the most unique, out-of-the-box suggestions of anybody we met at the conference. He was also very complimentary of the interface.
