Earlier this month, HD Interactive hosted the second meeting of the Tampa Flash, Flex and AIR Developers Group. With more than 70 professionals in attendance at the Art Institute of Tampa, four presenters took the stage to discuss the very latest in new media and industry leading interactive technology.

Leading things off was the Ben Forta, Adobe’s Director of Evangelism, an original creator of ColdFusion – now an Adobe server product – and the author of 15 books on database development and associated programming languages. Ben took the audience on a tour of the newest version of ColdFusion.

Following Ben on stage was Kevin Hoyt, an Adobe Evangelist specializing in rich internet applications, or RIAs. Kevin showed the audience how to build Adobe AIR applications using HTML and JavaScript, and then went into an entertaining show of integrating hardware – from the Nintendo Wii controller to RFID (radio frequency identifiers) – with Adobe Flex applications.

Finally, Jeremy Grelle of SpringSource continued the discussion of Flex by showing off the capabilities of Spring-powered applications.

The evening concluded with t-shirt and book giveaways and an enormous amount of information was presented, so we invite you to keep future meetings in mind if you are in the Tampa technology community or would just like to learn more about some of the tools we use to create projects for our clients.
