Adobe MAX 2009
This year, MAX was in Los Angeles, CA at the Nokia Theater, which typically holds concerts, awards shows and the American Idol finals (this made for great acoustics and abundant seating).  For the second year in a row, an HD Interactive AIR application got a mention by the key note speaker, which was a big accomplishment for us!  Last year Tour de Flex was a big hit with Adobe Flex developers and this year’s mention was for ChessJam, the world’s (soon-to-be) best online Chess game.  We’re still working hard on ChessJam and we’ve got some other cool stuff in the works as well.
I also attended three great sessions on augmented reality, which is something we’re really getting into here at HDI.  We already knew and have been applying much of the AR information presented, but we got some tips that really helped us augment (pun intended) our AR projects.
We’ve also been developing iPhone apps at HD Interactive and reallyMedia and the two MAX sessions I attended on Flash CS5 iPhone development had me really optimistic about our future applications.  Until now, we’ve been working on iPhone apps using Apple’s software as well as Corona, but Flash is something we’ve been using for 15 years, and we have a few Flash platform Jedi developers on the team.  Now we can do whatever we want!  I foresee the creation of many cool apps.
The Adobe MAX conferences are always a blast, and I’m looking forward to next year!
