Apple, Samsung, Kindle, Nook? Say “Yes†to All of Them!
In my last post, I talked about the importance of developing apps across every device type. At HDI, we believe it’s our job as developers to transform great ideas into apps that appeal to, and are available to, all audiences and brand loyalists. And that includes the burgeoning tablet and e-reader markets. Why? Beyond the trend setting and innovation, I don’t know of a single business that isn’t looking for ways to maximize marketing ROI. By optimizing our clients’ apps for multiple marketplaces, we can help them increase exposure and sales without blowing the budget.
The two most popular tablets on the market right now are the Apple iPad and the Samsung Galaxy Tab, a device running the Android OS. The new color Nook also runs Android and will allow application downloads in addition to book downloads early next year. At HDI, we are already developing for iPad and Galaxy Tab and are preparing for another tablet to be released in 2011: the Blackberry Playbook. We are signed up for the Blackberry and Nook developer programs and are set to begin application development when the new devices are ready.
The bottom line is that iPad isn’t the only option for consumers anymore. If you have an idea for an iPad app, we can help you translate it into formats that work on competing devices. Other tablets on the market offer different features (like a smaller size or built-in camera) that some people find more enticing than the iPad, and we all know that device users are notoriously brand loyal. For example, what I love about the iPad is the precise thing some others dislike: it’s big. The size makes gaming easier and more fun, in my opinion. But lovers of the Samsung Galaxy Tab may find the iPad to be too clunky. The proponents of each tablet are potential customers, regardless of their screen size preference, so offering your product in multiple marketplaces allows you to reach each device user.
Because our developers understand special 3rd party software, it’s easy for us to make your app beautiful on multiple devices with little extra cost. Your idea could be live in two or three different marketplaces without costing you two or three times the amount.
If your app works only on the iPad, you are missing a big part of your potential market! Consult with us and we can help you create your app, optimize it for each device, and place it in the iTunes store, Android marketplace and other online marketplaces to achieve more sales and increase the return on your development investment.
