ChessJam Update!

It’s been a year since we posted an announcement that ChessJam had seen one million moves, and we remember how proud we were that day.  Now, we have even more to celebrate, including the 50 million move milestone coming up soon! Hundreds of players sign up for the game every day (including some Grand Masters) to enjoy the awesome graphics and the competitive, yet friendly environment. Right now, we have more than 60,000 users playing more than 5,000 games a day. It’s exciting to be bringing together so many chess fans.

If users have noticed a faster connection time and improved performance, it is because we upgraded the ChessJam servers recently. ChessJam players oversees were especially happy with this update!

We have been working hard to make ChessJam run perfectly, and ChessJam users have been instrumental in this effort, reporting minor bugs and suggesting improvements. We’ve been able to keep ChessJam a fun environment with good, clean competitions and tournaments. Our recent performance updates also included a few critical fixes that helped put a stop to some cheating that was going on. Our loyal users helped us find a couple loopholes and we have finally closed those holes.

Soon, we will have mobile support for ChessJam, as well as other updates that will be especially appreciated by our most active and loyal users, so stay tuned!

There’s still A HUGE problem with the use of cheat programs on ChessJam. In the 10 Minute room its running rampant. I was under the impression that one of the security features was going to be an alert sent to the opponent if the other player switches two another running application right before his or her move each time it’s their turn.. That in itself is a giveaway one is using a program to decide the next move for them. I’ve seen this sickening activity on YouTube. If that little feature finally gets added, it will give us an opportunity to spread the word about who is a known cheater and who plays an honest game by having a thread in the forums or through word of mouth..
